Encounter 1
Damdella flies through the wall yelling, “What’s the commotion all about? I thought the victims were drugged. Oh.” With a smile she says, “You better start running. My pretties are going to have some fresh meat today.” She flies out back through the wall. The heroes gather their things and run out of the temple to the city’s south gate. No one is there to stop them.
After two hours of swift travel east a cloud can be seen on the horizon. Behind the heroes 10 spined devils give chase. They manage to close the distance to only a 100ft gap. The flying devils fire their flaming spines at the heroes doing there best to slow them down where they would inevitably be swarmed to death. All but Vorn run for their lives. The dark elf turned invisible and diverted himself from the chase. Then when he had put enough distance between himself and the devils he cried, "OVER HERE! HEY! OVER HERE!" Four peeled off from the swarm to see where one of the quarry had scurried off to.
Up ahead the desecrated earth turned to a fertile grassland, and beyond that the sandy beaches of the coast. A middle-aged man in green robes knelt at the edge of hell and Erebus amongst a patch of dead trees and broken land. Looking up the man took in the situation and cast chain lightning, eliminating half of the swarm and sending the rest running. He then turned back to what he was doing, using his hands to create a mound of earth and desecrated soil. Chanting an incantation he raised his hands from the soil. As his hands raise a flower grows from the barren earth.
The heroes quickly asked the man's identity, and he congenially replied his name was Govannon. Vorn sneaked behind the man, invisible. Govannon asked, "Why is your elf friend trying to sneak up on me?" The rest of the heroes were bewildered not knowing where Vorn had went off to. Vorn dropped his invisibility, with his blade just under the tip of Govannon's chin, as if making a hard decision.
